Lavish Treatment for Newborn Blue Ivy Carter
One of the biggest gossip news stories over the weekend was the birth of Blue Ivy Carter. Blue is the daughter of hip hop mogul Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, and Grammy award singer and actress, Beyonce Knowles. Since her arrival into this world, the child has already been showered with lavish gifts and given the ultimate star treatment. It will be a guessing game to see how much money will be offered for the exclusive first pictures of little Blue, but the figure could be well into the millions of dollars.
First Blue was taken home from Lenox Hospital in a luxurious, tricked-out Mercedes van. Obviously every baby needs a smooth carpeted and wood interior with all leather seats that face each other, satellite television and a fully stocked mini bar. However, that was just the ride, at home more presents awaited. It was rumored that Jay-Z dropped $2000 on a crib, constructed out of solid birch and cedar, from the company Posh Tots. As well the couple also bought a silk dress from jean Paul Gaultier that retails for $285.
However, her parents are not the only ones spending money on expensive gifts. Blue is getting the royal treatment from musicians and Hollywood actors alike. Oprah sent a generous gift basket, full of goodies and handpicked children’s books. Fellow Destiny’s Child band mate Kelly Roland went all out. She purchased several onsies and cashmere baby blankets, which cost $300 a pop, at Glen Kids boutique as well as a $7,0000 pink crystal encrusted bathing tub courtesy of Swarovski.
